My wife and I took a trip to King's Island, an amusement park in Cincinnatti, OH, on Friday of last week. It was the first time in forever that it was just the two of us out on a trip together. Unfortunately my weight made the day less enjoyable than it should have been because I was unable to fit on several of the rides we wanted to ride. Talk about absolutely humiliating...
So it is blatantly obvious that I have to do something about my weight and with this latest bit of inspiration I'm ready to try once more to shed some pounds.
On the up side, the trip was in fact quite fun and spending time alone with my wife was quite nice as we do not get time alone very often with a seven year old and a roommate.
And yesterday turned out to be quite an interesting day. I was bored and sitting at home and decided to do a Google search for the name of an old friend and, sure enough, I got a hit. After exchanging a couple of emails, Shalee joined my friend's list and hooked me up with her mother's and brother's phone numbers. Her brother and I used to be very close growing up so I was quite pleased to be able to get ahold of him once more.
Today, I fired of a text message to my old friend and he responded and we had a nice conversation via text messages and I got his address and email address to go with his phone number so that I can hopefully stay in touch with him this time around.
Now that I've gotten the sister and brother, I have to get in touch with the mother. I found out from Shalee that her mother is living rather close to mine. In fact, they are only about a block and a half away from each other! What a small world... So I am going to try and visit her as soon as I can find the time. She was a second mother to me growing up and I miss spending time with her. I miss all three of them and I'm glad I've gotten in touch with them once more.

I Just Don't Get It!
I really don't.... I go to school... I work my ass off... Yet every time I try to get ahead something goes wrong.
I'm talking about the 'Senior Customer Support Engineer' postion I applied for last week for those who did not know. I thought things were going well when after a single phone call that lasted for almost an hour I was asked to drive to Louisville, KY (from Martinsville, IN) to meet the hiring manager for lunch. I thought the job was in the bag when the manager stated that his next step was to speak to HR. Then, I almost cried when I got an email today saying:
"Hello Grant:
Sorry for the delay in responding. Since this requisition is posted for a Senior Customer Engineer position, I have decided I either need to fill it with someone who has additional experience, or reclassify the position to a Customer Service Engineer III, Core Customer Engineer position. Reclassifying it will also require re-posting the job.
Given the above, I am not yet ready to extend an offer. Thanks very much for your interest and for making the trip down from Indy. I will let you know if it gets reclassified and/or we have any openings for Customer Engineer I's or III's."
I JUST DON'T GET IT!!!
If experience was, in fact, an issue, why was I asked to drive 2 hours for lunch? Apparently, something went wrong at the interview but I can't figure what. Everything went very well in my opinion.
Alas, this seems to be the way it works for me. I've done this twice, now... Phone interview goes well... Face to face seems to go well but then I get let down. I guess I should just expect it...
Anyway... Enough whining...

Crunchtime Once Again...
So it is the last day of my course on Web Publishing and I have work that is four days late yet instead of doing said work I'm sitting here posting on my new blog for no apparent reason.
I've decided I have entirely too many projects at the moment... There's family, work and school to start off with. Those three alone make my life busy and hectic but does that stop me? Of course not!! I'm trying to get a business off the ground and help to build and run a MMORPG. And let's not forget the software I want to write for Windows Mobile and the Restaurant Management System I want to put together and market...
So, yes, I'm busy... And I've added blogging to my list of things to do. I'm not really sure what I should blog about since eNVENT Technologies isn't really doing much at the moment. I guess random meanderings are the way to go for the time being.
Anyway, back on the topic at hand... I have three assignment questions due on Thursday of last week that I've yet to do and a team project that is almost finished.... I guess I should be focusing on these assignments but I have a rough time working on anything useful before it is far too late to get it done. However, I have to get things done tonight as this is the last day of class and one is not allowed to turn in assignments after class ends.
Well.. I think I've burnt enough precious time for the moment.
